This is a little follow up to my video from yesterday with a full description of how it’s made! I love my cabbage and love it stuffed; sometimes I crave it with a little meat and sometimes I want to have it vegan style. Both ways are delicious and just as easy to make.
For the meat version I am using organic beef and steamed rice cooked till ready and adding all my greens and spices including parsley, dill, and cilantro. I also include finely shredded onions and add some Celtic salt, cayenne pepper, and turmeric. Wrap everything in the leaves and cook in a pot till tender and ready!
The vegan version includes all the greens and spices but uses broccoli, peppers, celery, and carrots. Instead of the rice I am using quinoa.
To prepare the leaves, simply break them apart, place in boiling water till tender and scoop them out with a fork
The sauce you see is regular tomato sauce, Celtic salt, cayenne pepper, turmeric, and a pinch of all spice.
I recently posted a short little video illustrating what I do with the yuca root veggie so here is a little verbal explanation of how you can also prep a simple and delicious side meal for you and your family during any time of day.
You guys can refer back to my original post about the yuca but here are some added benefits I may not have mentioned. First a little about the yuca root; which isn’t to be confused with the potato as they are slightly different and the yuca is actually a substitute for the potato. It is an excellent source of B3 to lower cholesterol and it is filled with iron and calcium. Similar to the potato is that you need to cook the yuca before you eat it and it has a higher starch content than the potato. According to Share Remedies yuca also has the ability to break down or prevent the built up of calcification of kidney stones, gall bladder stones or calcification of joints. You can read about all the amazing benefits by clicking the link in the previous statement.
My simple recipe goes as such:
- Boil the yuca in water
- Peel the skin off
- Cut up into french fry pieces
- Fry them up on the skillet with a little bit of Celtic salt
- Serve with your choice of protein, salad, or eat alone!

Cooking is a passion but sometimes a good hearty and sweet salad is what I crave. Packed with everything I love and everything that’s good for you; this salad features 8 very simple ingredients!
- Bunch of Kale
- Cooked quinoa (any type works)
- Dried cherries
- Fresh squeezed lemon juice
- Olive oil
Today is not only a day to post my women crush of the week but to actually tell you guys why I love her so much. Maya Mia has been my inspiration and crush for years now and has helped me become a better makeup artist in my career. Her work ethic shines through in my own work and inspires me to give my clients the best of the best.
Maya Janeska, better known in the makeup blogging community as Maya Mia is a self taught inspiration from Tanzania, East Africa. Her most impressive quality is coming from a place where makeup artistry is kind of a ghost path and yet she had a will and found a way to stretch her talents through her YouTube videos, Instagram feed, and Facebook page and grabbed the hearts of makeup artists and fans around the world, even reaching the attention of Anastasia Beverly Hills, who is, till this day a huge supporter of her work. The two collaborated on a palette inspired by the colors of Maya’s home.
I absolutely love that she cares about every single one of her fans and subscribers and that she talks to the audience while teaching. Maya Mia puts her time and every last effort into her tutorial videos for the most amazing and gorgeous results. Her family’s art history shines through in everything she does on herself and her clients. During an interview with Jill Russel on Beautylish Maya Mia said “I never pre-plan my looks, I just look at the palette and let my imagination guide me. Don’t be afraid to play with color. It’s only when you do that that you’ll find your perfect combination.”
Dinner is always packed with nutrients and flavor especially when the kids eat it too. Tonight’s is no exception and includes one of my favorite super foods; kale! This time in a soup form and just as amazing. Recipe was adapted from the eHow food blog with a slight substitution; regular lentils instead of the proposed French ones (you can use any kind you like).
- 1 TBS olive oil
- 1/2 onion chopped
- 2 small carrots, diced
- 4 cloves of garlic, diced
- 2 celery stick, diced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 32 oz. vegetable stock (or make your own)
- 5 large kale leaves, washed & torn up into bite size pieces
- 1 1/2 cups precooked lentils
- Salt & pepper
1. Heat on olive oil onions, celery, garlic, and carrots. Saute them on medium to low heat until onion is translucent.
2. Add in the spices and stir. Then pour stock and increase heat to boil until the carrots are soft.
3. While stock is cooking add kale and lentils into the soup. Boil until the kale turns bright green and wilts just a little (about 2 minutes). Add salt and pepper to your preferred taste.
Sometimes the mood to cook strikes and as a result there come delicious and savory meals that must be shared. This particular meal was prepped and cooked Friday night and now the recipe is here for all to try! The meal involves tuna steak and a bunch of other yummy ingredients are that are not only delicious but actually good for you!
- 2 Tuna steaks
- Garlic, minced
- Red long spicy peppers, whole
- Cilantro, chopped
- Celtic salt
- Tsp. Paprika
- 1/2 cup Olive Oil
1. Sprinkle Celtic salt on tuna and let sit for about 40 min.
2. Rinse tuna of salt and now prepare the marinade. Take olive oil, paprika, and a pinch of Celtic salt to make the marinade. Pour mixture over the tuna and let it sit marinating in the fridge all day, until you are ready to cook.
3. Once tuna is in the pan, add the rest of the ingredients and begin to cook. Add a little bit of water to the pan. First simmer on low (stove top), take cover off the pan, place into the oven and set to high broil until the top is toasted and then change setting to low for a few minutes or until desired finish.
4. Serves directly out of the pan!
