Spring Cleanse

Spring time is a great time to begin cleansing your body of all those winter toxins. Remember all the comfort food you ate during the cold days to stay warm? Time to cleanse your body of it and prepare it for fresh ingredients and beach time. I will be sharing some of my favorite juices that I have done and some recipes I have found along the way that can help us all reveal that beach body to the world….

Today I am loving a little something green.

A bunch of celery along with a few leaves of kale and parsley will do the tick. Now sweeten it up with some green apple. To give it that extra zinger of flavor you can use 1 lime, 1 lemon, and a little bit of ginger. If you prefer it on the less sour side, just use either lime OR lemon, not both…flavor preference is up to you. Cilantro is also a great ingredient to add to any green juice.

Taking a cold plunge in the ocean is something members part of the Polar Bear Club in Coney Island, Brooklyn do all year round but especially in the winter months when the water is at freezing temperatures. I, myself try to get into the ocean as much as possible throughout the year but I prefer my plunges in the summer.

The benefits of swimming in the ocean are plenty and one of the reason why I stay so healthy throughout the year. Natural sea salt water is above all else cleansing to the body and all our organs. It is healing to the skin by keeping it hydrated, salt water contains minerals and vitamins that produce antibodies for our immune system, and it helps with blood circulation..plenty of reasons to enjoy it all summer long; but for those who enjoy the freezing cold plunges in the winter have their reasons as well. (Livestrong.com)

One reason is that the freezing cold temperatures help to activate brown fat in adult men. Brown fat is a heat-generating type of fat that burns energy instead of storing it, and this may have important implications when it comes to weight loss. These cold plunges have also been known to reduce muscle inflammation and pain and speed up recovery time after an injury. The exposure to the freezing temperatures can also help with stress and disease tolerance.(http://fitness.mercola.com/)

So whichever season you prefer for your plunge…there is no wrong turn when it comes to the ocean. Let me know in the comments how you take your dips!

Cayenne Pepper on that please!

When I want to add a little heat and flare to my dishes, there is only one spice I turn to and it’s one that so many people may already have as part of their spice collection; cayenne pepper. I add it to everything and anything that calls for a little extra spice and heat and besides the amazing flavor it adds, the benefits make it all the more worth while to cook with.

Global Healing Center gives a precise breakdown of a few of the health benefits including:

  • cayenne peppers anti-irritant properties
  • anti-cold and flu remedy
  • helps and prevent fungal pathogens
  • prevention of migraine headaches
  • anti-allergen
  • digestive aid
  • anti -redness properties
  • helps in the production of saliva
  • useful for blood clots
  • helps the body with detoxing
  • joint-pain reliever
  • has many anti-bacterial properties
  • some studies even show it can be an anti-cancer agent
  • supports weight loos and heart health
  • toothache remedy
  • Also a topical remedy for the skin to treat bites, sores, and wounds

Wrinkles & Dehydration

Dehydrated-Skin2

Bridal season is here and one way to get gorgeous wrinkle free skin before you book your bridal appointment is to reduce wrinkles by simply preventing dehydration! When water content is reduced in the body, the skin naturally loses moisture causing it to look shriveled and dull. The more water, the better and the longer your skin stays wrinkle free!

#WCW Inspiration – Maya Mia, MUA

Screen Shot 2014-09-22 at 5.05.15 AM

Today is not only a day to post my women crush of the week but to actually tell you guys why I love her so much. Maya Mia has been my inspiration and crush for years now and has helped me become a better makeup artist in my career. Her work ethic shines through in my own work and inspires me to give my clients the best of the best.

Maya Janeska, better known in the makeup blogging community as Maya Mia is a self taught inspiration from Tanzania, East Africa. Her most impressive quality is coming from a place where makeup artistry is kind of a ghost path and yet she had a will and found a way to stretch her talents through her YouTube videos, Instagram feed, and Facebook page and grabbed the hearts of makeup artists and fans around the world, even reaching the attention of Anastasia Beverly Hills, who is, till this day a huge supporter of her work. The two collaborated on a palette inspired by the colors of Maya’s home.

I absolutely love that she cares about every single one of her fans and subscribers and that she talks to the audience while teaching. Maya Mia puts her time and every last effort into her tutorial videos for the most amazing and gorgeous results. Her family’s art history shines through in everything she does on herself and her clients. During an interview with Jill Russel on Beautylish Maya Mia said “I never pre-plan my looks, I just look at the palette and let my imagination guide me. Don’t be afraid to play with color. It’s only when you do that that you’ll find your perfect combination.”

Review on Brazilian Blowout

10678820_10201731263963692_102542576259625606_n

Review straight from the expert this morning!

“I do the Brazilian blowout on myself every 3 months.. It keeps my hair healthy and manageable… Gets rid of the frizz.. I was walking around like this in the rain yesterday… Hair stayed till now! And will stay till I wash it.. When I wash my hair I still need to go over it with the blow dryer but it takes me a quarter of the time.. I don’t have to straighten it either, I can leave my natural wave or I can use a curling iron for volume.. Which is why I love this product!! U can still get volumized hair!!”

If you are anyone you know is interested in booking a Brazilian blowout, call or text Limor directly for an appointment! Have an amazing Thursday everyone!!
